Abacha and Ugba - African Salad Abacha and Ugba also known as African salad is a Cassava based dish from the Igbo tribe of Eastern Nigeria. Abacha is simply dried shredded Cassava while Ugba on the other hand is fermented African oil bean seed. Abacha is a native delicacy that originated from the Eastern part of Nigeria. It is popularly called African salad in English.

Instructions to make African salad (Abacha):
  1. Prepare all your ingredients
  2. Pour hot boiling water over your Abacha and allow for 5 mins.
  3. In a pot, put palm oil then add potash water and stir (remember not to turn on heat at this stage) until thickened
  4. Then add ugba, dry fish and seasoning cube
  5. Add garden eggs and Abacha and mix together.
  6. For the kpomo, cook kpomo until soft. Then in a pan, add oil, add onions and then add grated pepper mix (tomatoes, scotch bonnet, onions, tattashe, shombo, garlic)
  7. Add seasonings and cover and allow for 2 mins. Then add cooked kpomo and stir. Cover and allow for 5 mins
  8. Garnish with onions, Utazi leaves, garden egg and any other thing. Serve and enjoy😋
